About Only Fools and Horses

First aired in 1981, Only Fools and Horses quickly became one of Britain’s most iconic TV shows. Written by John Sullivan and starring David Jason as Derek “Del Boy” Trotter and Nicholas Lyndhurst as his younger brother Rodney, the show followed the ups and downs of two market traders in Peckham, South London. The show’s famous line - “This time next year, we’ll be millionaires!” - was inspired by John Sullivan’s own father, who was always dreaming of big ideas that never quite worked out. And the phrase “Lovely jubbly!” actually came from an old orange drink advert in the 1960s. Even today, Del Boy’s Reliant Regal van (the iconic yellow three-wheeler) remains one of the most recognisable vehicles in British TV history!
